Horrible thought about the Anglican Communion

This idea being floated that we don't all have to be in communion with each other, as long as everyone's in communion with Canterbury.

Which I think I would cheer, but my personal bit is Canterbury, and if everyone's got to be in communion with us I can see an awful lot of "We can't do that because Church X would cease to be in communion with us" ahead. So no change in this particular bit of a small rainy island off the west coast of the European mainland. And yes I do have a horse in this race.

So how exactly does one move to Canada?

The same point had occurred to me, which I also find extremely depressing, although obviously I don't have quite the same horse in the race.

Would they narrow 'Canterbury' in that case, so it would perhaps just encompass the inside of the cathedral (I don't know if that would help or not). Or perhaps 'Canterbury' will be 'the office of Archbishop of Canterbury' and the diocese will be renamed?

Even just the Province of Canterbury wouldn't help, as Norwich is in that (not that being in York is any better, as Jeremy Timm has found out this month).

1) Reduce the Diocese of Canterbury down to just the Cathedral and close. Create the Diocese of Dover or expand Rochester.

2) Reduce the Province of Canterbury to a single diocese. Create the Province of London, or of Salisbury, or both to get a better balance of province size.
